At the size of any vehicle (even a smart car) plus the amount to rocks, salt, debris on the road, it is unavoidable. I've used the attached (Amazon.com) to fill in any rock chips using the Touch-up Paint sold by BMW. Dravit Grey Metallic and this works perfectly IMHO. It allows me to deposit the paint in ever so tiny spots. I can fill in the chip without depositing any paiint outside of the chip.
