Explain what volcanic vents are
WebDeep within the Earth it is so hot that some rocks slowly melt and become a thick flowing substance called magma. Since it is lighter than the solid rock around it, magma rises and collects in magma chambers. Eventually, some of the magma pushes through vents and fissures to the Earth's surface. Magma that has erupted is called lava.

The vent is often a few meters wide and may be many kilometres long. …
WebThe individual vents and volcanoes in monogenetic fields each only experience a single eruption, but the fields themselves are polygenetic as they experience multiple eruptions. … Web5.5 Summary. Volcanoes can be dangerous. The lava flows, ash clouds, pyroclastic flows, explosions, mudflows (lahars), landslides, earthquakes, and tsunamis that can be produced during eruptions can destroy towns and farmland. Even the gas emitted by a volcano can lead to catastrophe.
WebVolcanic eruptions consist of the expulsion of gases, rock fragments, and/or molten lava from within the Earth through a vent. Volcanic eruptions may produce lava flows, lava domes, blasts, eruption columns, pyroclastic flows, lahars, and landslides and debris flows. Learn more Volcanic Eruptions Lahars and Landslides WebA volcano is a vent in the earth crust that lets out hot lava, gasses, rocks, volcanic ash and steam from a magma chamber underneath the earth’s surface. Volcanic eruptions predominantly occur in areas with vibration …
