WebJan 26, 2024 · 29. Jan 25, 2024. #4. I built a 10" 3 Wt for my son and he wanted a grip similar to the link grip. So I agreed to try it. It turned out to be his favorite rod. Personally I like it. I like that I can put a finger directly on the blank. I think I can feel strikes and the nymph on the bottom better. WebApr 15, 2009 · My first fly rod, purchased in 1981, was the Diamondback 9’ 6” rated 5-8 weight (quite a spread!) marketed by Sue Burgess Tackle in the U.K. I think it is a “first generation” Diamondback and a lovely rod. Caught my first Mahseer on it too. But they were Vermont made, not U.K. One of the very best rods on the U.K. market at the time.

BUT...at $295 this thing is dangerously close to Orvis Superfine territory and that's gunna cost Diamondback alot of business. A Chinese rod with questionable quality control shouldn't cost $300, but i can live with it.
